6 Eco-Friendly Holiday Gifts For Guys

on
November 23, 2018

We all have that one guy in our family. The one you love, but don’t see often. The one you know is a good person, with interesting interests, that you can hold a conversation with. But for the life of you, when it comes time to buy this fellow a gift – especially an eco-conscious gift he’ll love – you’re stumped!

I’ve got a few of these men to get gifts for. In the past I’ve usually defaulted to buying them a nice bottle of wine, a six pack of craft beer, or a gag gift for the holidays. But this year I did some research and found a small but mighty selection of eco-friendly holiday gifts for guys that I think they’ll be happy to receive!

Health-Ade Holiday Kombucha

Instead of the usual bottle of wine or six pack of fancy beer, I’ll be getting my bros a case of this Health-Ade Kombucha! This brand of the probiotic tea that’s been gaining in popularity recently is organic. It’s also cold-pressed from real ingredients, handcrafted in small batches, and bottled in glass not plastic!

Even more impressive, this Holiday flavor is supremely palatable, without the overly strong flavor that kombucha can sometimes have. It tastes like the holidays, but the best possible way, with a touch of spice and a dash of sweetness. It’s so yummy in fact that we’ve already gone through two cases of it (one of them a gift from the company; the other we bought ourselves), because my husband is drinking a bottle of this drink every day!

You can buy it on Amazon by clicking here. It’s also sold individually at Whole Foods (where they’ve partnered with the Whole Planet Foundation to give $25,000 this year to alleviate global poverty), and by the case at Costco! Only available until the end of the year, so you can bet we’ll be stocking up in our house on these yummy eco-friendly holiday gifts for guys.

Recycled Record Bookends

I bought something like this for my brother-in-law last year. Made in the USA from recycled vinyl record albums, these make a cool addition to any music lover’s bookcase. The records are reinforced with a recycled wood core and a steel base to help them hold up the books. Or your favorite bro’s LP collection. Click here to buy on Amazon.

Best of all, these bookends are not only eco-friendly holiday gifts for guys but also a cool way to upcycle vinyl that would otherwise end up in the landfill.

Reusable Shopping Bags

Getting into the habit of using reusable shopping bags is one of my 3 easy ways to be more eco-friendly. My husband has a set of these BAGGU reusable shopping bags, and loves them. They fold up super small, so he can keep them in the storage compartment of his car door and then throw them into his pocket on the way to the store.

They also come in a wide variety of patterns, so you can pick the one that best fits your guy’s personality. Perfect for the dude who’s already living an eco-conscious lifestyle, or maybe just needs a nudge in the right direction. My husband has been using his regularly for years now, and they’re still in excellent shape. Click here to buy these bags!

Wooden Mustache Eyeglass Holder

This one is kind of a jokey gift, but it’s also very functional. Perfect for the special guy in your life who likes a literal sight gag! This handcrafted eyeglass stand is made from solid wood, and fits perfectly on a nightstand or desk. You can buy it on Amazon by clicking here. I bought one like this a few years ago at Cost Plus World Market – sans mustache – but don’t know if they still carry these eco-friendly holiday gifts for guys there.

Multi-Tool Box Of Wonders

I’ve been seeing ads for some snowflake-shaped multi-tool kits lately. But when I looked into them, they were made in China from questionably-sourced materials. So I couldn’t in good conscience recommend them as eco-friendly holiday gifts for guys.

Then I stumbled on this cool set in the Uncommon Goods catalog. Made in Portland, Maine by a local artisan from wood and stainless steel. This tool kit features animal cutouts and an engraved wooden case. Click here to see it on the Uncommon Goods website.

Smart Phone Photography Lesson

Got an aspiring “Boyfriend of Instagram” who maybe needs some help with framing and lighting? This gift is a good alternative to micro-managing every photo he takes. It’s also ideal if you favor gifting experiences over material goods!

Find a local photographer and book your man a tutorial session with them so he can brush up on his photography skills. Then you won’t have to make him take dozens of different shots every time you want a good pic of yourself. If you can’t find a good photographer in your area, enroll him in a photography class through your local Parks & Rec center or community college.
