Today is Earth Day – hurray! Today also marks the one year anniversary of Eco Friendly Mama’s launch into the world. My 1 year “blogiversary” as I like to call it.

6 months ago I did a retrospective on the first half of my blogging year, which included a detailed reporting of my stats, top posts, brand partnerships, and social media followings. Please click here to read all about that if you haven’t yet!

For my one year blogiversary, I’ve decided not to do the full reporting at this time but instead focus on my goals for the next 12 months. To keep me accountable, and also to let you know what to look forward to from Eco Friendly Mama in the future!

 

Here are my goals for the upcoming year:

 

Keep Writing

This one is obvious right? My number one goal with Eco Friendly Mama, which I’ve written about in my Mission Statement, is to document my own efforts to be more eco-conscious, to cheer on companies making changes towards sustainability, and to encourage others to care more for this planet that we all share.

So my main goal for the next 12 months is of course to keep writing, one post a week at least, and keep being the change I wish to see in the world.

 

Eco Travel

We’ve got some exciting trips coming up that will focus on sustainable travel and responsible tourism that I can’t wait to share with you! This summer alone we’ll be going to Brazil and Argentina (my first time visiting South America!), as well as the Channel Islands in California and Denver, Colorado.

 

Printables

As I mentioned in my interview on the They See Me Mommin’ podcast, I plan to do some helpful printables you can use to help you figure out how to sort your recycling. I’ve also got a couple other ideas up my sleeve, so stay tuned for more on that this coming year!

 

Social Media

My social media following has continued to grow across all the Eco Friendly Mama accounts. I recently calculated my engagement rate on Instagram and it was 9.8%! The average engagement rate is 3%, so I’m thrilled to be way above that average. I credit this to the fact that I have resisted the temptation to use the follow/unfollow method just to appear more popular to brands without building actual trust with those that follow my accounts.

Instead, I’m choosing to grow my followings organically and authentically, and I really enjoy seeing posts from the people that follow me and replying to your comments. Please keep them coming! So, while I continue to grow my social media accounts slow and steady, my immediate goal for this next year is to dive deeper into Pinterest. Creating graphics is a field I am just honestly a total novice at, so I’m focusing now on making better graphics, pinning more, and finding more interesting content through Pinterest to add to my own boards. I currently have way more monthly Pinterest viewers than followers, so I’d love to connect with you over there if you’re a pinner!

 

Brand Partnerships

I’ve attended a few conventions this past year focused on green living and have had the good fortune to discover some really awesome companies that are committed to creating sustainably-made and eco-friendly products. I am incredibly picky about which brands I choose to partner with, but have some really exciting and fun partnerships coming up in the near future! My goal for the next 12 months is to continue to find products I believe in and want to spread the word about, that are great eco-friendly alternatives to old standards that aren’t great for the planet or your health.

And to kick off year 2 of Eco Friendly Mama, I have partnered with Organic OCHO Candy for a giveaway contest to celebrate Earth Week and my 1 year blogiversary! If you haven’t tried OCHO Candy yet, you really must. It’s delicious, organic, and comes in a wide variety of craveable flavors. My personal favorite is dark chocolate and coconut!
